Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it? Well, this site is still in a bit of hibernation, but here's a quick FYI on a cool speaker series.

It's time for winter sports! Calendar of snowshoeing, skiing, & winter safety events

As mentioned last month, this site is going to be in a light hibernation for the rest of the year. Posting on the blog will be light, but you can always see the calendar for events as that will continue to be regularly updated!

And every once in a while this sleepy bear will yawn and stretch and provide you a blog post on fun seasonal outdoor events.

So here is one! This is to highlight the special calendar of winter sport events.

When the weather turns cool, it's tempting to want to stay cozy indoors. Thankfully, nature provides a new incentive in fall to encourage one to get out and about: fall foliage.

Below are a few talks at REI to help you find a great hike this fall, and below that, a calendar of upcoming nature photography events. Bundle up and head on out to capture the beauty of autumn.

Here are the outdoor and nature events this weekend. The Seattle Public Library Urban Self-Reliance series has several FREE! events this weekend to help you get into bike commuting and maintain your bike. There are a couple bat-related events, including one for young folks. There's also a wild plant medicine class and FREE! mushroom identification event.

Here's the round-up of outdoor events this weekend. Of special note: it's National Public Lands Day and a chance to enjoy National Parks for FREE! Also learn about how to deal with deer in your garden or kids can role play as deer and cougars. Check out canoeing and kayaking events. Go for a nature walk or head down to Tacoma for a Myco-Blitz. And on Sunday evening, check out a book club that will discuss "Walden" by Thoreau. Lots of FREE! stuff!
